What composition for P4A glazing?
P4A glazing is a laminated glass composed of :
- two or more sheets of glass,
- separated by at least 3 films of polyvinyl butyral (PVB).
This highly resistant plastic film prevents glass splinters from scattering and maintains the integrity of the glazing even after impacts. Even when cracked, the glass stays in place, preventing passage and protecting occupants.
When should P4A glass be installed?
Class P4A is recommended for :
- first floor windows,
- bay windows facing the street or garden,
- glass entrance doors,
- shop windows,
- isolated or unopposed openings, which are more likely to be targeted.
It is an excellent alternative to P5A glazing (even more resistant but more expensive), particularly for private customers looking for a good compromise between protection and budget.
