Prerequisites for compliant installation
The installation of a basin drain must comply with precise standards to guarantee its watertightness and proper operation. Before any intervention, check :
- Compatibility between the drain and your washbasin (diameter of drain hole generally 32 or 40 mm).
- Presence of all kit components (seals, nuts, drain mechanism)
- Accessibility of the siphon and pipes under the sink
Standard installation steps
1. Component preparation
Thoroughly clean the surface of the sink drain hole. Apply a bead of sanitary silicone sealant around the hole on the upper side to ensure a watertight seal.
2. Drain assembly
Position the drain grate at the top, with its rubber seal. Screw on the lower part of the drain from underneath the basin, tightening moderately to avoid damaging the ceramic.
3. Siphon connection
Connect the drain tube to the siphon:
- Minimum slope of 1 cm per metre
- Perfect alignment without forcing
- Use of the gaskets supplied
Mandatory control points
After installation, systematically check :
- No leaks at the bung fixing point
- Good water flow without retention
- Correct operation of the emptying mechanism
- Tightness of all connections
Common mistakes to avoid
- Overtightening of nuts (risk of cracking)
- Forgotten seals
- Wrong siphon orientation
- Use of unsuitable products (inappropriate glue)
Preventive maintenance
To extend the life of your system:
- Clean the drain grate regularly
- Check seals periodically
- Prevent waste from accumulating in the siphon
- Use compatible cleaning products
